I thoroughly enjoyed the concert until the last 10 or 15 minutes. As a person with a disability, never in my life have I felt so much sadness for the way I was treated at this show. Despite the fact that I have been seizure free for about 2 years, occasionally my epilepsy causes me to feel dizzy and I cannot stand. During one particular song of the concert the strobe lights kicked on and afterward and felt shaky and knew I needed to sit. As I headed toward the bar I saw some people at a table, all of them were standing and not using their seats. I asked politely if I could sit and the guy said yes. After the show ended I went back to my boyfriend, then the encore started and I thought I should go try to find another seat. I went back to the same spot, asked for permission again, and sat quietly. Keep in mind I was not drinking, drunk, under the influence of anything, I was simply sick. Then security walks over and asks me if I have a wristband to sit there, I look at the man who had given me permission and explain I had asked him. It turns out his girlfriend got mad and got security. I just looked at him and said, “If it was an issue why didn’t you just say no?” I was so disappointed. At least now security was with me so I could explain to him why I needed a seat and that I wasn’t feeling okay. The venue had many steps but had clearly stated that patrons were not to sit on them. When I explained to the security representative why I had asked to sit there in the first place, he looked at me and said “If you don’t feel good step outside and get some air or something, they paid for the wristbands so you can’t sit there.” And then he walked away. I was shocked. I told this man that I was epileptic and that I felt ill and all he cared about was the guy and his girlfriend who paid for the seat…even though I asked both times. I was so angry, confused, and frustrated with the entirety of that 5 or so minutes that I just stood there staring at my phone and looking back and the people who were so rude. I couldn’t text my boyfriend because there was no cell service, obviously security didn’t care that I might have a seizure. So I just stood there. When the show ended I rushed back to my boyfriend and we left. Even now as I type this I feel so disgusted by the way I was treated here and frankly if I had a seizure in The House of Blues after all of that there would be a lawsuit. EVEN if I wasn’t disabled and sick, if someone expressed that they are in medical distress to your patrons and security and they treat you like that…maybe some evaluation of policy, atmosphere, and practices needs to happen. I feel so saddened. I truly just needed to sit somewhere.
Murder Mystery Dinner was fun. Rumours concert was awesome. Wish they had more seating at the concerts.
We had a great time there tonight! The service was great and the food was wonderful. My mixed drinks were surprisingly strong and their live entertainment (Jeff Thomas) was perfect. It was our first visit and we cannot wait to come back! Our waitress Nicole and manager Aaron were very welcoming to us first timers! You don’t want to miss out on this experience!
This was my second visit for Sunday Brunch. My besties and I took our Moms during our Mother/daughter weekend and wanted to do something fun and memorable. I called about a month in advance to reserve our place and inquired about vegan options. The first Lady I spoke with was very helpful and offered suggestions of half price for the adult since the menu would only have a few options to fit a vegan diet. I called back about two weeks prior to our arrival to ensure the menu would offer enough options for $30 or if there was a possibility of offering a special vegan plate. Terrie, the manager was not helpful at all. He insisted that there would be several vegan items available, but could never provide any information on the specific number. Several could have been 2-3 items... He also would not provide information of what the items would consist of, even after supposedly speaking with the chef. I asked him about the offer of half price, as mentioned earlier and he declined that as well. The phone call made me not want to attend, but since the group was already excited, we attended anyway. There were not several items available to accommodate a vegan's dietary needs. There was a vegetable tray with minimal items and squash/zucchini combination... House of Blues need to do better when talking with customers and having a variety of eating options. Customer Service is important, no matter who the customers are. Do better!!
House of Blues was outrageously mind blowing. I especially loved the way they kept to the original faith of African people. The food was outstanding, the environment was inviting. This maybe the replacement for Giant Crabs. Giant Crabs better step it up, because House of Blues ain't no joke. Only 4 stars because they got live alligators the other restaurant across the way. And I ain't got time for that. Yo, people if you are in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina go to House of Blues and watch out for the alligators from the other restaurant.
